After studying 3D Product Design, Jon’s engineering and design career began in the special purpose machine sector, including R&D, design and manufacture of high-speed automation and robotics systems.

Following this, Jon started writing about engineering innovation and, over the following 35 years, has edited leading technology magazines across the UK, Europe and North America.

Regarding sustainability, following a carbon audit of his own software business, Jon partnered with the University of Kent to explore the subject of sustainable product design. Some 800 interviews later, Jon has developed a blueprint to help OEMs transition to a sustainable, circular economy: profitably.
