Geraldine is an Innovation Lead in the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) Team at Innovate UK. She joined Innovate UK in October 2019, bringing a wealth of experience in project and programme management, following a career primarily in local government, where she worked on EU grant-funded projects, strategy and policy development as well as service design and improvement. Having spent a number of years working in waste and resource management and wider environmental issues, she has keen interests in sustainability and circular economy approaches. She particularly values cross-sector and multidisciplinary collaborative partnerships that bring about solutions for the future of the planet and she relishes facilitating such collaborations. Geraldine leads SSPP’s work on films and flexibles, including a large-scale demonstrator project for film sorting and recycling, and core programme work streams, including funding for FPF FlexCollect and CEFLEX | A circular economy for flexible packaging. These major industry initiatives are focused on the particularly challenging area of films and flexibles, addressing a range of issues from packaging design through to household collection and recycling.
